Permits & Applications
Working with the property owner, we can create a system design that will be used by the appropriate Home Owner Association, local zoning and architectural review boards to evaluate the merits of the project. Once approved, we can help prepare documentation necessary for approval of building departments, Electrical Inspectors, the Ohio Department of Development, U.S. Treasury, and Local Utilities.
Installation
After receiving all permits and approvals, Bold Alternatives will begin on-site preparation work.
How long will installation take?
A small simple residential installation (2-5 KW) will take no more than 1-2 days. A larger commercial installation (10-30 KW) may take 2-3 weeks depending upon the complexity of the mounting system installation. Some common factors affecting how long an installation may take include weather, ease of access to the site, complexity of connecting to the electrical system and height or slope of a rooftop.
Self Assessment
Before beginning a formal assessment and design process, it is best for home or business owners to take a closer look at their situation to familiarize themselves with some basic factors that will determine the size and nature of their PV system.
3 Constraints
1.) Financial Commitment
2.) Shade Free Space
3.) Electrical Load
If you are considering mounting a solar system on your roof... what is your roof material?
What is the approximate age of your roof?
Would you consider a roof mounted system or pole (ground) mounted system?
What is your average monthly electric bill?
Who is your current electrical supplier?
Have you had a previous assessment completed?
Professional Solar Site Assessment
We will meet with you at your property, inspect, measure take pictures and conduct a shading analysis. The final report will include an estimated solar energy production report for the size and type of system that you request.
The Site Assessment Fee of $300 can be credited to system purchase costs.
Design
We are happy to educate and work with our clients in order to assess the viability of all design options. Whether your goal is to maximize watts per square foot, minimize cost per watt, or limit or maximize visibility we have engineering assets available to meet your design goals.
We will typically charge 2% - 5% of the total system costs for designs.
